Teaching Opportunities for Staff

With Erasmus+, opportunities are available to spend time teaching at an education institution abroad.

These opportunities are available to both staff working in the education sector and to individuals in businesses invited to share their knowledge of a given sector, subject or issue to students.

Opportunities to teach abroad with Erasmus+ are available in education institutions operating at all levels as follows:

  • Higher education

Erasmus+ supports teaching periods at higher education institutions abroad. If you work in higher education, you can spend time teaching at an institution in an Erasmus+ Programme or Partner country. People working in businesses can receive support to teach and share knowledge with higher education institutions located in a Programme country. Learn more

  • Vocational education and training

Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at vocational education and training (VET) institutions abroad. If you work in VET, you can spend time teaching at another organisation in an Erasmus+ Programme country. Through teaching abroad, you can gain broader a perspective on education, exchange knowledge with your colleagues in another country and pick up good practices in VET. Learn more

  • School education

Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at schools abroad for professionals involved in pre-primary, primary and secondary school education. Through teaching abroad, you can gain broader a perspective on education, exchange knowledge with your colleagues in another country and pick up good practices in education. These opportunities are available between schools based in Erasmus+ Programme countries. Learn more

  • Adult education

Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at adult education organisations abroad. If you work in adult education, you can spend time teaching or providing training at another organisation in an Erasmus+ Programme country. Such experiences and exchanges can help improve language skills and cultural knowledge, as well as providing a new perspective on teaching practices and approaches.Learn more

  • Staff with physical, mental or health-related conditions

Additional funding is available and staff have the right to the same support services offered to local staff by receiving institutions. Learn more

 

 

 

Training opportunities for staff

With Erasmus+, training opportunities are available to staff working in education, both in teaching and non-teaching capacities.

Training periods abroad can consist of job shadowing, observation periods, professional development courses or specific competence-building events.

Erasmus+ supports training both at education institutions and at relevant organisations operating outside the sector.

Opportunities to take part in professional development activities are available to staff working at all levels of education as follows:

  • Higher education

Erasmus+ supports training periods for staff working in higher education institutions. With Erasmus+, you can train at a higher education institution in an Erasmus+ Programme or Partner country. If you are working in a higher education institution in a Programme country, you can also train at an organisation outside the sector in a Programme country or a Partner country. Learn more

  • Vocational education and training

Erasmus+ supports the professional development of people working in vocational education and training (VET) through training periods abroad. These opportunities can consist of structured courses, training assignments or job shadowing periods at VET institution or at another relevant organisation, based in an Erasmus+ Programme country. Erasmus+ supports training activities abroad for professionals involved in pre-primary, primary and secondary school education. These opportunities can consist of structured courses, training assignments or job shadowing periods at schools and other relevant organisations involved in school education, based in an Erasmus+ Programme country. Erasmus+ supports training assignments at adult education organisations abroad. These opportunities can consist of structured courses, training assignments or job shadowing periods at organisations involved in adult education, based in Erasmus+ Programme country. Learn more

Trainees

Erasmus+ can help you gain valuable work experience by supporting traineeships (work placements, internships etc) abroad.

The cultural understanding and language skills you learn from working in another country can make it easier to find a job after your studies.

Furthermore, working in a relevant organisation opens up perspectives on your studies that seminars and workshops may not provide.

These opportunities are open to people currently in education and recent graduates. Traineeships can be carried out in any relevant organisation.

The opportunities offered to trainees are as follows:

  • Higher education students and recent graduates

Erasmus+ supports traineeships (work placements, internships, etc.) abroad in Programme or Partner countries for students enrolled in higher education institutions in Programme countries. These opportunities are also open to recent graduates. Learn more

  • Vocational education and training students, apprentices and recent graduates

Erasmus+ supports traineeships (work placements) for students enrolled in vocational education and training (VET). These opportunities are also open to company-based apprentices and to recent VET graduates. Learn more
